What Can I Do WIth It?

It's not hard to imagine how useful a Palm would be for the pigeon hobbiest. I will run down a list of the most useful applications and their uses to the pigeon fancier.

Contacts
Store all the names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, web sites, and notes about your pigeon friends, breeders, suppliers, etc.

Calendar
Keep track of all your shows, races, conventions, hatching eggs, medication schedules, and anything else you need to remember.

Memos
Store electronic versions of your notes, pedigrees, etc. Take notes on the Palm itself when you are out in the loft, on a training toss, at the clubhouse, or anywhere.
Database
Programs like HandDBase allow you to design your own relational databases. I've used mine to make a table of every bird in the loft. Then from there, I can build other tables, like a race results table and an offspring table, which reference the master list. It really is like having a full featured database in the palm of the hand. When designing the functionality of your handheld database, you're limited only by your imagination.

Email
I'm an email fanatic. You may not care as much as I do about portable email, but it's certainly possible with the Palm. You can either download your mail from the dektop to the Palm using the supplied cradle or cable, or you can hook your Palm to the internet using a modem or your digital cellphone. Email on the go is especially fun for me.

Interconnectedness
Though this is not really an "application," it's worth noting that the Palm is a connected type of device. You use the supplied cradle or cable to synchronize your data with your desktop. Using this, you can enter or export data from your PC to the Palm. Conversely, any notes, contacts, etc, you make on the go can easily be synced back to the desktop. Palms also have an infrared port which allow you to share information with users of other Palms by the wireless "beaming" of the data.
